Before you book that deal

That $1,700 aircon deal might not stay $1,700.

A $1,700 price might suit your home perfectly. The useful question is what does that price cover for your particular installation?

Below are four questions you can ask any installer — including us — before deciding.

A little clarity now can save a headache later ↓
A $1,700 “fully installed” deal?

It might be a great deal. Cheap does not mean bad. Expensive does not mean good.

But before you book, there is one very simple thing worth knowing:

What do you actually get for the $1,700?

Easy there, ref. We’re not calling foul. We’re just checking the replay.

An aircon job is more than the white box on the wall. Someone still has to bring it, fit it, connect it and make it work properly.

And every house is a little different.

So instead of asking, “Is $1,700 cheap?”, ask: “What is included in the $1,700?”

Because “fully installed” is doing a fair bit of heavy lifting there.

SplitsPro quote guide visual asking what is actually included in the aircon price
1

What are you actually paying for?

You are paying for the aircon and the job of putting it in your home.

That can mean pipe, wire, a drain, covers, electrical work, labour and testing.

Would you want to know which of those are already inside the price before you say yes?

Apparently the pipe shop still doesn’t accept good vibes as payment.

2

Same aircon. Same job?

Imagine two homes getting the exact same aircon.

Home A: the outside unit sits just behind the inside unit. Short pipe. Easy job.

Home B: the outside unit has to go much further away. More pipe. More work. More time.

Same aircon — but is that really the same job?

Same jersey. Different game.

3

So why should every home pay the same?

If your job is simple, you probably do not want to pay for a hard job you do not need.

If your job really does need more work, that extra work still costs money.

Wouldn’t it be better to know which one you have before the work starts?

You wouldn’t buy six meat pies because you only wanted two. Same idea.

4

What if $1,700 suddenly becomes $2,400?

There may be a real reason. Maybe your home needs more pipe, more electrical work or a harder install.

That is not the problem.

The problem is finding out after you thought the price was already settled.

If the price has to change, would you want to see why — and know the new price — before the extra work starts?

Extra work isn’t the villain. Surprise extra work is where the whistle comes out.

5

Four easy questions can save a lot of guessing.

You do not need to know anything about air conditioning. Just ask:

1. What do I get for this price?
Ask them to say it simply.
2. What can make the price go up?
You should know before you book.
3. Will you tell me before you do extra work?
No surprise bill at the end.
4. Is this the right size for my room?
There should be a simple reason for the size they suggest.

If someone can answer those four questions clearly, doesn’t the decision get much easier?

A decent quote should survive a replay.

Try this little test:

After reading the quote, could you explain it to your mate in 30 seconds?

If you can say what is included, what can change and when you will know the final price, you probably understand the deal.

If you need a calculator, a magnifying glass and your brother-in-law, maybe have another look.

Same aircon. Different job.

Would you pay the same for these two homes?

The aircon is the same. The work around it is not.

SplitsPro visual showing the same aircon can involve a different installation job

Easy job vs harder job

Easy job
Outside unit close by. Short pipe. Easy access. Less time.
Harder job
Outside unit further away. More pipe. More work. More time.

Same machine. Different amount of work. Should the job always cost exactly the same?

One is home before dinner. The other one packed lunch.

Now put us under the same microscope

What does “No More To Pay” mean with SplitsPro?

We think the normal parts of a normal install should already be inside the price you see.

So for a qualifying standard SplitsPro installation, these are included:

No mystery invoice waiting on the bench for a late appearance.

Up to 3m of pipeA normal short pipe run is already in the price.
Up to 20m standard electrical runThe normal electrical cable run is already allowed for.
Normal installation labourThe work to fit the system is already in the price when the job fits our standard conditions.
Testing & handoverWe make sure it works and show you the finished job.
What if your home needs something different?

We show you what is different, explain why it is needed and tell you the price before we do the extra work.

If the score has to change, you see the replay first.

Simple question: wouldn’t you rather know that before installation day?

The SplitsPro Clear-Price Check

How we make an installation quote easier to understand.

01Tell us about the room.

We check what you want to cool or heat, the layout and the system size you may need.

02Check the installation.

We look at placement, access, pipe length and the electrical work involved.

03See the scope and price.

We explain what is included and flag any non-standard work before you go ahead.

Our promise on extra work: if additional work is needed, we explain it and get your approval on the price before proceeding.
Before you compare two prices

Make sure you are comparing the same thing.

One quote says $1,700. Another says $2,100.

That does not tell you which one is better yet.

First check what each price includes.

Two numbers can look like they’re playing the same game when they’re not.

SplitsPro visual about checking an ambitious aircon quote before comparing prices

Ask these four things

What do I get for this price?
What can make it cost more?
Will you tell me before extra work starts?
Why is this the right size for my room?

If the answers are simple and clear, doesn’t choosing feel a lot easier?

And all the while you are comparing quotes, it is another day without the comfort you wanted the aircon for in the first place — another warm night, a stuffy room or a home that is hard to settle in. It is worth getting a clear answer so you can move forward when you are ready.

A few things worth checking

You can check our work, not just take our word for it.

It's reasonable to ask who will be doing the work and to see evidence of their experience. Here is what we can show you.

Licensed installers.

Our installers are licensed for the air conditioning work they carry out.

Insured.

SplitsPro and its installers are insured for the work they carry out.

Approval before extra work.

If the job needs something outside the agreed standard installation, we explain and price it before proceeding.

Why this matters: A clear quote, a qualified installer and examples of completed work make the decision easier. You should not have to guess.
When you are ready, we are happy to help

Want help making sense of your aircon options?

Tell us a little about your room and where the system might go. We can help you understand the likely size, what is normally included and what is worth checking before you book.

No pressure to make a decision on the spot. Just a clearer picture of what your home needs.

No obligation to proceed. Standard inclusions and additional work depend on the installation conditions confirmed in your quote.

P.S. The $1,700 deal might be completely right for your home. Keep those four questions handy, even if you book with someone else.
